		   Linux PPP-Driver Options Template

WHAT IS IT?

This package contains a template for the configuration options file
`/etc/ppp/options' for the Linux PPP-driver (pppd-2.1.2d, the part of
PPP that does not reside in the kernel). This template includes most,
if not all, of the configurable options, plus explanatory text for
each option, all taken directly from the manual pages and
documentation accompanying pppd-2.1.2d.

HOW DO I USE IT?

However you like. My intent was to provide something to copy from and
then edit to suit the installer's needs. To use this along those
lines, copy `options.tpl' (the template file) to `/etc/ppp/options'
(*after* making a backup copy of your original one!), then comment or
uncomment lines and edit as needed. You will obviously have to have
read and write permissions to both `/etc/ppp' and the original
`/etc/ppp/options'.

NOTES

I found that including the explanatory notes and option syntax in my
options file helped me immensely when installing and configuring pppd
for the first (and successive) times; with luck, this template will do
the same for others.

I intend to bring this template to the attention of Michael Callahan
and Al Longyear (pppd-for-Linux maintainers) so that it might be
included in future releases of pppd.

COPYING

Since this template file contains text which is directly taken from
the pppd-2.1.2d package, the template itself falls under the same
license and copyright as the pppd package does (good luck finding that
one). Any additional text in this template file I am placing under
the same license and copyright.

    ppp-opt/README - you're reading it
