linemon is a new admin module for VU BBS. Linemon will provide a real-time
status display of all your modem lines and what they are currently doing,
both for incomming and outgoing calls.

A slightly modified version of 'modem' is also provided to show 'reset'
status in linemon correctly when modem re-init's the modem device.

The simplest thing to do is run linemon for awhile, especially on a busy
system. neither VU BBS, nor 'modem' is required to use linemon. I have
not tested linemon realtime displays with any other getty modules, however.

The 'speed' field is the processes 'BAUD=' environment variable. This is
a feature of VU BBS whereby 'modem' saves the effective baud rate at
connection, and will probably remain blank when monitoring non-VU BBS getty
based connections.

The 'terminal' field is the effective user's 'TERM' setting, at least in
the login shell level.

Installation is very easy:

    cp VU* /etc
    cp linemon.conf /etc

You may have to edit linemon.conf with the names of your modem ports. You
can also adjust the 'scanrate', which is how frequently linemon will scan
and update the display, in seconds!

If you are using linemon with VU BBS or our admin package, you can add it
as a menu item in /etc/admin.conf, and it will support bookmarking with
post-B2 test systems.

All current VU BBS related files are found at ftp.amaranth.com. You can
leave e-mail for dyfett@aol.com or join the vubbs mailing lists, which are
hosted through majordomo@julie.pond.com. Or call Marvin BBS 703 492 9301/
9101.

This is the aout binary for linemon. VU BBS will become available in both
elf and aout binaries shortly.
